That's where Trump got it.
As much as I'd have liked to vote for a woman for president, I wasn't going to do it, just because Hillary was a woman.
I didn't vote for anyone.
These candidates were seriously lacking. It's not a choice. However, I do understand why my fellow Americans voted the way they did.
The problem is, I don't think Trump is going to make a difference for any of these Americans. I am trying to remember when a politician actually improved anything in an average Americans life. It's true you may be able to point to Obamacare, but now the premiums have gone up to an un-affordable level for too many Americans, so much for The Affordable Care Act.
The warmongering, the anti Russian sentiment trickling down from President Obama. Americans are war weary. We have had enough, especially after Obama's promises of ending Iraq and Afghanistan. It's still ongoing and we are interfering with Syria, Yeman, on and on. We are sick of spending our treasure in far flung countries we have no business being in. The Military Industrial Complex very existence depends on war and threats of war. I have no idea how Trump will stop The Pentagon war machine or if he'll even try. He's said he's going to go to war with ISIS, so it goes...What scares me isn't that Trump got elected, but before the election 300,000 NATO troops were put on high alert on the Russian border. Why? It's almost as if someone wants to push a button there, because they know Trump won't.
The fact is that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, this happened before in 2000 with Al Gore. This only shows that perhaps the electoral college BS needs to go. If the popular vote doesn't matter then there's something seriously wrong, not that anything will change there. The way I seriously doubt that the corruption feeding government politicians is going to change under a Trump presidency.
There's some jubilation in America today, average Americans feel as if they have finally been heard. While those backing Clinton feel let down in this process, it's sad. Hope and change got us nowhere over the last 8 years. We have to look after ourselves. I doubt President Trump is going to be able to do what he says he will, especially with a Republican controlled House and Senate, who in the past have shown an unwillingness to spend any money that didn't help their corporate overlords.That's who's really in charge. Can President Trump change that? Would he even be willing to try? Until we get out of the hands of the shadow government that is really running things, nothing is going to change. Now that Republicans will be running the show, who will they blame if they don't improve the lives of the millions of Americans who voted for them?

ReplyDeleteHe's going to make a huge difference. He's going to put your children and grandchildren deeper into debt by cutting taxes while increasing spending on defense.
The rich will benefit from most of these cuts. He'll make up for tax cuts on the middle class by taxing your savings, and means-testing your Social Security income. And his definition of "means" is likely to be a long, long way from your own definition.
He'll cost you jobs by closing down trade with countries who buy most of our manufactured goods. And yes, stuff still is made here, from soap and toothpaste to tractors and lawn mowers, to software and cinema.
He's already talking about rapidly eliminating the consumers protections that keep the big banks from raping you. Wells Fargo got caught under Obama. They won't get caught next time. In fact, new regs will encourage that kind of behavior, just the way they did the mortgage meltdown.
He's going to kill Obamacare. You thought the premiums were going up rapidly? Wait until you get a voucher for a quarter of the cost of your healthcare and get told to go negotiate your own rates with the hospitals, doctors and phamaceutical companies. Go ahead, call a drug company now and tell them you want the rates cut on your prescriptions.
While Trump's at it, he's going to kill Medicare. The Republicans have been after that program for years. With a Republican House, Congress, White House (and soon to come Supreme Court) this is their big opportunity. What leads seniors believe they have a right to stay alive? Kiss yourself goodbye.
I won't take up all the space I'd need to point out all the bad stuff that's coming. I didn't much adore Hillary, but at least she would have kept a lid on Neanderthal rapaciousness. If you didn't vote for her, if you stayed home, if you voted for Trump because you wanted a "change" you're going to get it.
Yes, Trump will make things happen. But I don't think you're going to enjoy seeing them happen.

DeleteI haven't had healthcare in years. Healthcare that doesn't want to pay for anything, let alone prescription drugs, which I don't take either. I make my own toothpaste and soap, so manufactured goods like that, I don't buy. I am not paying to ingest poisonous Flouride or other additives. Banks? I belong to a community bank, I ditched Wells Fargo years ago, glad they finally got caught, but they should have been jailed back in 2008.
If I don't get Medicare, oh well. But I hardly think it's going by the wayside, that would be political suicide. I am sorry you think I am going to "get it" but, as with most threats, probably not.

At least now we might stop hearing about all the Russian nonsense, as it looks like Putin has reached out as Trump has also, so maybe we can stop with the rhetoric. I have never seen so much vitriol, fear and hatred in an election, another reason I don't vote. I refuse to give my consent to this broken system and this joke of a political process, where you are served these 2 horrible "choices" that isn't any choice at all. Even if I did vote, I can remember when people respected a citizen for exercising their right. Now I see, unless you vote for someone only you agree with, well then, it's best not to to bother. We are all Americans, no matter how the vote went, voting is a choice, most of us have walked away from, we figured out a long time ago, that it is nothing but the illusion of choice.

It was disgruntled olds that put them in office and the same people can turn them out. Over all, the domestic situation is going to get worse but it looks like the foreign situation might actually get better. Only Trump knows who he's replacing the Neo-Con cultists with but at least they won't be on a divine mission to destroy Russia once and for all and might actually PICK A SIDE in the Syrian debacle instead of trying to play both sides against each other in hope of picking up the pieces later or something.

DMC, I agree with not missing Obamacare, which I never got and I was charged a penalty that was way cheaper than buying it. The domestic situation was going to get worse anyway, we know the economy has been held together with spit and bubblegum for years. As far as Russia, agree there too, we have to get past the Cold War crap that the war machine would love to invest in, I mean, we've already invested too much money in that. We will see, if Trump has "a malformed public duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fiber" or if he somehow rises to the occasion, or something...

I hear ya Patricia as far as what you think of this election, voting and the rest of the shit, I DID vote, but only because I been voting for like 41 years now (I voted straight Democrat at the last minute while waiting in line chnaged my mind, intitially planning on voting for Jill Stein), not that I thought we would get a goddamn thing much out of this election ... dont feel alone dear, many people are sick of this cesspool we call a f'n democracy ... we have went from the urinal to the shitter as far as democracy and politics. As far as your comment above, saying you didnt buy ObamaCare, and that the penalty was cheaper than buying the shit, I had to laugh on that, cause it's so true ... what I sen i their plans is not much to highside about ... the out of pocket can kill you alone (wrote about that scam too), I know a lady with kids (single), she got it and said she could only hope under it that they dont get sick, the out of pocket she said would kill her ...
